After washing out of the majors (and trips to rehab), Kenny Powers returns to his home town of Shelby to live with his brother Dustin and his family. Now working as a middle school gym teacher, Kenny tries to re-establish a connection with old flame April who is engaged to their school’s principal.
Kenny is no longer an icon, and it is killing him inside to have to work like regular folks — for example: “teaching a bunch of piss pants how to tie their shoes.”
After missing the point to his brother’s pep-talk, Kenny gets even more egotistical, and assumes that everyone in town needs to see him “back on top”. Kenny makes a one-of-a-kind job acceptance speech over the school’s PA system, and also promises to sell his precious jet ski.
Stevie’s Best Moment(s)
After getting introduced to Stevie, Kenny does not remember going to high school with him. Even after Stevie reminds him that he was the drum major, and wore a cape his sophomore year.
Not that great, but they are just getting re-acquainted...
